The first caller said that an officer had been shot and numerous phone calls came into 9-1-1 advising police that a civilian nearly a block away from the original shooting had been hit.
Barbara Holdsworth, a Houston-area mother helping her daughter move out of a residence on a nearby street, was hit as she was pulling her SUV into a driveway.?
CSPD revealed that witnesses told them during their investigation the shooter, Thomas Caffall, approached Constable Bachmann, after shooting him, and removed his duty weapon. Police said a civilian near Ms. Holdsworth's location saw this and started firing upon Caffall. Investigators believe the civilian fired off 5-6 rounds at Caffall.

Within five minutes, Caffall was shot and taken into custody by College Station Police officers.
