Dayron Caracena Blanc

Dayron Caracena Blanc is a six year old boy who lives in Formentera del Segura, near to Alicante Since the time of his birth he has had severe medical problems due to alleged medical negligence.

Dayron has been diagnosed with chronic non-progressive encephalopy, secondary to perinatal cerebral hipoxia, which affects the psychomotor and language areas of the brain.?

Within the limits of his physical state his interests and hobbies are anything to do with motorcycling, skating, fishing, playing football, both as a spectator and a participant. He is also a big fan of Barcelona FC.

His situation means that full time care is a necessity and this is provided by his parents.

Therapy currently being undertaken by Drayton is controlled by the Therasuit Method and it takes place in Palma de Mallorca at the Creix Clinic.

The Therasuit Method combines an individualised intensive strengthening program for children with Cerebral Palsy utilising the TheraSuit & Universal Exercise Unit which combats the effects of deconditioning & immobilisation in realising that standardized therapy approaches are less effective. It is based on the principles of Intensive Therapy and Strength Training which trains the disabled child?s body like that of a non disabled child. This is a new approach in which the Physical Therapy field is learning from the Health & Fitness field through a structured program that enhances the growth & development of the individual

Quite obviously the treatment does not come cheap and the town of Formentera del Segura, through the residents, are supporting Dayron with the collection of bottle tops which they are now extending to neighbouring towns in the region.

They have also organised a benefit gala where there will be 11 musical groups, a radio DJ and 3 dance groups all performing live.

Dayron?s situation was brought to the attention of the Leader Newspaper by Francisco Lidon who many readers know as a local businessman/entrepreneur and owner of the very popular Herradura restaurant in Los Montesinos. Fran knows the family and the acute financial difficulties they are suffering as a result of providing the necessary medical treatment for their young son.

In a bid to help with the ongoing fundraising activities that are being undertaken by neighbours and friends of the family the Leader Newspaper, Exite Radio and La Herradura Restaurant are sponsoring a week of events that will take place at La Herradura in the coming days, on the 27, 28, 29, 30 of June and the 1st of July from each of La Herradura restaurant will donate 10% of all monies taken on food and drink. The activities and events are as follows:

Wednesday 27 of June: Tony Kelly
Thursday 28 of June: Spanish Guitar + flamenco singer + pure flamenco dancer (Javier Nu?ez)
Friday 29th of June: Flamenco dancers: Javier Nu?ez, Maricarmen Lorente, Maricarmen Viudes?????
Sabado 30th of June: Flamenco Dancers: Javier Nu?ez, Maricarmen Lorente, Virginia Gea
Sunday 1st of July: Flamenco Evening, market and Jazz concert.

Further information on all these events can be obtained from the restaurant itself on 96 672 10 78 or by emailing gerencia@restaurantelaherradura.com

You can support any of the events shown above in the knowledge that you will be helping to raise much needed funding that will be given to Dayron?s parents as they continue to provide ongoing and much needed care for their young son.
