Larouche Supporter Kesha Rogers is Running for Congress Again

Now that the courts have settled on a Texas redistricting map, candidates have been filing for the primary contests for such offices as congressman, state representative and railroad commissioner. Kesha Rogers is one of three Democrats vying for the right to run against Rep. Pete Olson in the 22nd congressional district, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Who is Kesha Rogers?

According to Rogers' Facebook page, Rogers was born into a "lower middle class family," her father being a minster and a construction worker and her mother an employee of the Houston Independent School District. She graduated from Texas State University with a degree in political science and speech communications. She is an acolyte of Lyndon Larouche, a political activist considered to be on the fringe by many. Rogers ran unsuccessfully for chairman of the Texas Democratic Party in 2006. She won the Democratic nomination for congress in the 22nd District in 2010, but was defeated in the general direction.

What is Kesha Rogers' platform?

According to Rogers' campaign website, she advocates the impeachment of President Barack Obama, the restoration of the Depression era Glass-Steatgall Act, space colonies, and a North American water and power alliance that would create new infrastructure for distributing water and electricity.

How do Texas Democrats view Rogers' candidacy?

The Texas Democratic Party is viewing her candidacy with great alarm. Besides her association with Larouche, Democrats object to her advocacy of the impeachment of Obama. A site called "Stop Kesha Rogers!!" notes she was seen with a group of other Larouche followers holding a sign that depicted President Obama with a Hitler toothbrush moustache.

Who are the other candidates for the Democratic nomination in the Texas 22nd?

Doug Blatt and K. P. George filed for the primary, according to the Houston Chronicle, but Blatt, an information system specialist and businessman has dropped out of the race and has endorsed George, according to his campaign website. George, an immigrant from India, owns his own financial services company.

The Texas 22nd Congressional District

The Texas 22nd, which encompasses much of Fort Bend County southwest of Houston and the area around the Johnson Spaceflight Center, is currently represented by Pete Olson, a Republican. Olson was first elected to Congress in 2008. In 2010 he won against Rogers handily. Olson is a conventional conservative, opposing many of the policies enacted by President Obama and supporting NASA's space programs.
