In 2003 Sega began releasing a series of re-makes, ports and re-imaginings of their back catalogue in Japan. Dubbed?Sega Ages 2500, this budget PlayStation 2 range kickstarted with a glossy remake of the Sega's flagship RPG known as Phantasy Star: Generation 1. Knowing this hit never left Japan, an English fan translation has been released.
The only taste NTSC and PAL gamers got of the Sega Ages 2500 range was a small compilation known as the Sega Classics Collection, which included?likes of?Fantasy Zone, Space Harrier, Golden Axe, Columns and several others. Japan, however, was not only enjoying the exclusive Phantasy Star remake, but also other Sega Ages 2500 titles such as Gunstar Heroes, Monster World (Complete Collection) and Panzer Dragoon.
A Phantasy Star fanatic by the Internet alias of?Kyence has been working on translating the Sega Ages 2500 port of Phantasy Star: Generation 1 since 2011. Having finally finished her work of translating the entire game into English, she has now released a downloadable patch for the game and plans to now tackle the second remake in the series, Phantasy Star: Generation 2.
